Article: Berneslai Homes warn of dangers of playing on building sites

Berneslai Homes in partnership with Clayfields Construction Ltd and Guinness Northern Counties, have recently organised a safety awareness assembly with the pupils at Birkwood Primary School, Barnsley.

The assembly was organised to help the children understand the dangers of playing on building sites. A demonstration was performed with the help of the Head Mistress Mrs Allen showing the importance of wearing safety clothing and what clothing is needed when working on a building site.

The school also held a poster competition with a ‘Site Safety’ theme that was judged by votes from the School Council. There were 6 runners up and 6 winners, the winning designs are to be professionally produced and displayed on the fences that surround the new housing development site at Westhaven, Cudworth. The new homes will consist of nine bungalows for rent for the elderly including 2 disabled units.

Project Manager Wendy Hepple said “With the school being adjacent to the new housing development site at West Haven, we wanted the children to be made aware of the dangers of playing on building sites and to educate them about the importance of wearing safety equipment.”
