Berneslai Homes has recently signed the governments Respect Standard for Housing Management, making a visible commitment to residents and other interested parties. The Respect Standard for Housing Management was launched on 17 August and outlines the core components essential to delivering an effective response to anti-social behaviour and building stronger communities, such as accountability, leadership, giving greater resident empowerment, and supporting community efforts at tackling anti-social behaviour.
A vote on whether to sign the Respect Standard was taken at the RESPECT conference organised by Berneslai Homes in the Summer. The event held at Barnsley Rugby Club off Shaw Lane was well attended by the public , with the majority of voters saying yes to signing the agreement.
Berneslai Homes, Director of Housing Management, Mark McGee adds, Most people know what respect is and take their responsibilities to other people seriously. However, some individuals are not learning these values or chose to disregard them and too many people still suffer from the behaviour of a minority and feel powerless to stop it.
Mark continues, By signing the Respect Standard we are showing that we are doing all we reasonably can to provide good services to tackle anti-social behaviour and create a culture of respect.
