Following a recent borough wide ballot, Berneslai Homes have now appointed three tenant board members: Tony Alcock; Amelia Lofts; and Joan Whittaker; as Board Directors. Suzy Brain England has also been appointed as the new Chair of the Board.
The Board will also consist of three Councillor representatives who are: Councillor Joe Hayward; Councillor Trevor Smith; and Councillor Denise Wilde and three independent representatives who will be announced in the next few weeks.
The new Board will start work on 1st December and members of the current Strategic Board will step down from their duties on Friday 30th November 2007. Until 1st December the new Board Directors will work as a Shadow Board, undergoing a full development and training programme .
Particular thanks go to the current Board, many of whom have served as Directors since the start of Berneslai Homes in 2002. Helen Correy, Chief Executive says “Being a Board Director is a very important job and I wanted to give my personal thanks to the current Board for their time, energy and commitment they have given to Berneslai Homes and in working towards the best for all tenants. I look forward to working with Suzy and the new Board in the coming months“.
The appointment of our new Board also coincides with a new contract between Berneslai Homes and Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council to run as an ALMO for a further 5 years. This will allow Berneslai Homes to continue to focus on delivering first class services to our customers.
