Construction Services have recently welcomed their new apprentices. This year our apprentice intake consists of two electrical apprentices and three gas fitting apprentices, of which one is a mature apprentice. All of our apprentices follow an intense assessment (via JTL, the leading training provider to the building services engineering sector) and interview process before being offered a position.
The gas apprentices formal training is carried out on weekly block releases at Leeds College of Building and the electrical apprentices go on weekly day release at Barnsley College. Gary Williams, Construction Services Manager adds “This along with the specific mentoring program which aligns the apprentices to high quality craft operatives within Construction Services, continues to produce excellent young engineers who are a huge asset to us and to our customers.”
Our Apprenticeship Scheme can offer local people a full range of general construction trades. We are extremely pro-active in providing work based mentoring, work experience placements and re-training assistance through local schools, training colleges and new skills agencies across a wide range of craft skills.
