GOING THE EXTRA MILE AT BERNESLAI HOMES

As part of National Customer Service Week both Berneslai Homes and Barnsley Connects asked their customers to nominate a member of staff who they felt had gone the extra mile for them. The Berneslai Homes winner was Mrs Higgs of Hoyland Common, who nominated Impact Officer Yvonne Wantling.  Both Mrs Higgs and Yvonne won a £25 prize.  Mrs Higgs adds, "Following the death of my husband I had to move from a disabled bungalow into another home.  I was going through a really difficult time and I would like to thank Yvonne for her patience and understanding. "

Customers were also asked to send in their ideas and suggestions of how things can be made better.   Sarah Barnes, Customer Services Manager at Berneslai Homes adds, "We would like to thank our customers for sending in these suggestions but unfortunately none of the suggestions can be put into practice.   Although we liked the suggestion from one of our customers to build apartments/bungalows in Monte Gordo on the Algarve and charging a rent of £70 per week!!! " 

Berneslai Homes and Barnsley Connects celebrated National Customer Service Week from the 2nd to 8th October, by organising a range of activities in the Town Centre and Barnsley Connects Service Centres.  The event was also supported by Benefits and Taxation Division. 

National Customer Service Week, is celebrated by organisations and companies across the UK.  The event raises awareness of the important role staff play within their organisation and provides an opportunity to raise organisation awareness, of the crucial role customer service plays in reputation and business success.  Since its launch in 2001, it has doubled in popularity every year.
