A New TARA for Darfield Road and Cudworth
A meeting was held at Darfield Road Community Centre on 27th February to see if there was enough support from the local community to form a new Tenants and Residents Association for that area.
The meeting was well attended and a committee has now been formed. One of the main aims of those who formed the committee is to keep the community spirit in Cudworth alive.
Joan Gaines, Community Development Officer at Berneslai Homes adds, “We now have 26 Tenants and Residents Associations (TARA’s) operating across the Borough working closely with officers and Local Members, in trying to improve things in the areas where they live. These groups are made up of volunteers who act as a ‘voice’ for those living in the areas they represent. Not everyone has the confidence to stand up and voice their opinions –members of the TARAs speak out on behalf of those who are less confident, they are the real heroes on the estates because they give so much of their free time to help improve things for others.”
The new Secretary of the TARA, Julie Berry, said “We are very approachable, we welcome anyone living in the area to contact us on any issue, whether it is about housing or the environment or any other concern, we will give them support.”
