Berneslai Homes this week (29th October) held their first ‘Talk Up TARA’ day for Tenants and Residents Associations (TARA) across Barnsley at Wilthorpe Community Centre.
The event was for all 23 Tenants and Residents Associations across the borough to get together to share good practice and get to know what great things they were involved in across their communities. The event was attended by over 50 community representatives who enjoyed presentations by their fellow TARAs including a talk by Phil Brown of Summer Lane TARA who spoke of his life and work in South Africa before he came to Barnsley. They were also entertained by live music courtesy of Ronnie Steele who is the Chair of Union Street TARA, Barnsley.
Dave Fullen, Director of Business and Customer Service at Berneslai Homes says, “Involving tenants and residents in developing our services is essential if we want to deliver services that people really want. We are proud that the Tenants and Residents Associations in Barnsley work together to represent local people, championing their issues, challenging Berneslai Homes where it is right to and helping us to determine local priorities. Year on year our tenants have told us that we are delivering better services – our TARAs have helped us on this journey”.
