A new agreement has just been launched in Kendray for all residents with the aim of giving them clear information about the services provided in the area and what standards of service they can expect.
The Kendray Housing Agreement has been created as a result of excellent partnership working between the local community, Berneslai Homes and Kendray Initiative Board and has been sent to all homes in Kendray. Consultation with the community identified topics it should cover, which include how Berneslai Homes let council properties; how customers and residents can manage and develop the service; how rents and service charges are managed; how homes are repaired and maintained; how neighbourhoods are managed; and help residents to understand what their responsibilities are.
The agreement will help Berneslai Homes and the community identify problems and work together to find solutions; help improve communication with residents; and work together to improve the neighbourhood.
A monitoring framework has been set up where local people living in Kendray play an active role ensuring that services and standards of services in the agreement are being met. The Kendray Initiative Board will liaise with Berneslai Homes to resolve any problems identified by the framework.
Berneslai Homes Director of Assets, Regeneration and Construction, Stephen Davis adds: ”As part of the excellent team work between local people and partners currently rejuvenating Kendray, the idea for this agreement was conceived and we are pleased to announce it has now come to fruition. This agreement will be the first of its kind in Barnsley and because of popular support similar versions will be rolled out in other areas of the Borough in the near future.”
