On 5 December 2008 the Dearne Impact Team were informed that the shutters to an empty property in Thurnscoe had been tampered with. Arrangements were made for the property to be re-secured, however on attending to carry out this work the workman found some cannabis plants, which had been dumped in an outbuilding.
The Impact Team attended the property and immediately contacted the Dearne Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT). While present they received information from a passer by concerning another nearby property where the cannabis was alleged to have come from. This information was passed to the police and as a result led to a raid and £125,000 worth of cannabis plants were seized.
Allan Sneddon, Tasking Officer for the Safer Neighbourhood Team said “ This is an excellent result and is once again a shining example of how close partnership working between the SNT and the Impact Team has been successful in tackling serious crime in the Dearne area”.
