Berneslai Homes have recently launched a Junior Warden Scheme in Cudworth. Pupils from Churchfield Primary School took part in the scheme which has proved to be a great success in benefiting both the children and their local community.
As part of the scheme Berneslai Homes’ Impact Team took the group on an estate walkabout to look at issues affecting estates including dog fouling, untidy gardens, graffiti and litter. All their findings will be reviewed and acted on by the Impact Team and will benefit tenants and residents living in the community.
Impact Team Leader for Cudworth Leanne Cook said; “The Junior Warden Scheme has been very successful. The class thoroughly enjoyed the sessions we held and found them useful and informative. It gave them an insight into the works carried out by Berneslai Homes and how they can help to improve the environment in which they live. The teacher even said that she felt as though the sessions had helped with the confidence of some of her pupils. “
The Junior Warden Scheme promotes community development across the Borough through engagement with local primary schools, young people, Berneslai Homes and a variety of service providers to the community. The aim is to raise awareness amongst young people of the state of their neighbourhoods.
