New Lodge young people express their ideas to regenerate local area
His worshipful the Mayor Councillor Ken Sanderson opened an event on 26th March to celebrate the launch of the New Lodge Regeneration Design Boards on the green space on Wensley Road, New Lodge.
The design boards have been put together by local children from the Roundhouse Partnership Study Support Network. They have worked with local artist, Peter Deakin to express their ideas and perceptions of the works being carried out to regenerate their neighbourhood. The regeneration of the New Lodge estate is a transformational project which will provide much needed improvements to housing and the environment. The display boards also show designs for the first phase of new homes that are being developed by Yorkshire Housing in partnership with the Homes and Communities Agency.
The event was attended by all those involved in the project including Berneslai Homes, BMBC and Yorkshire Housing and their building contractor Frank Haslam Milan, Councillor David Bostwick and Councillor Jenny Platts. Mayor Councillor Ken Sanderson adds,” Its great to see local young people getting involved in the future regeneration of their area and I would like to thank them for their creativity and hard work. Thanks also to the local people who have supported the regeneration plans for their local area.“
