Recognising the hard work of Barnsleys volunteers
Barnsley Federation of Tenants and Residents are holding their first awards evening on 23 January at Priory Campus.
The aim of the event is to recognise how important volunteers are and to celebrate the impact they have not only at a local level but on a borough wide basis.
Claire Hawley, Federation and Customer Panel Advisor at Berneslai Homes adds,” We have so many talented tenants and residents within our communities that give up a lot of their valuable time to work with Berneslai Homes and their partners, ensuring that they are at the heart of the decision making process. You can not begin to quantify how important our volunteers are, and both Berneslai Homes and the Federation want to celebrate that.”
Nominations were invited from anyone in the borough and were divided into 10 categories including volunteer of the year and Tenant and Resident Association (TARA) of the year. Nominees have been invited to attend the celebrations along with members of the local TARA’s, Berneslai Homes Board and employees. The winners will be revealed at the awards evening.
The event will be a celebration of a year of our volunteer’s achievements and it is hoped to be the first of many. Barry McGowan, Chair of the Federation says, “We are all volunteers and even though we do not work in our communities for a reward it is nice to be recognised and to have the opportunity to get together and celebrate what we have done throughout the year.”
