Work starts on site to build 20 new homes at Worsbrough Common

Following extensive consultation with the local community, contractor Bramall Construction started on site on Friday 13th February to build 20 new high quality homes at Frederick Place in Worsbrough Common, Barnsley.  The properties will be available for rent and Homebuy and will be owned by South Yorkshire Housing Association and rented units will be allocated in conjunction with Berneslai Homes.

Moving towards the governments target of Zero carbon by 2016, 15 of the homes to be built will be Eco homes.  These properties will include environmentally friendly features including, good sound insulation, low water use fittings and low energy lights throughout. Yvonne Saunders, Secretary of Worsbrough Common Community Association said, ”Local residents have been looking forward to the start of this development for years and are excited that works have now begun to build these much needed new homes.” 
 
To transform the area further Berneslai Homes will start work next week on the erection of new boundary walls, attractive iron work gates and fencing, and off road parking. This follows the completion of Decent Homes work improvements to 102 properties on Bruce Avenue, Mount Vernon Ave and Vernon Close.

Intervention throughout Worsbrough is a long term commitment for Berneslai Homes and Barnsley Council.  Berneslai Homes Worsbrough Project Team, led by Mel Asquith, continue to ensure that the community are fully involved throughout and that Berneslai Homes, the Council and all their partners work together to ensure success.
