Following the success of last years Young Persons’ Funding Pot, Berneslai Homes are welcoming applications for this year’s pot.
The initiative continues to grow and to benefit young people across the borough to help fund and support activities, trips or equipment chosen by young people to benefit their group, centre or club. This year the funding pot has been created with donations from the following partners Kier Building Maintenance, AD Copley Builders Ltd, Etrinsic, GDA Creative Marketing, BULL TCL, Barnsley Federation of Tenants and Residents. Donations have also been received from Funding Pot Ambassador and Board member Councillor Joe Hayward and from fees earned by various other board members.
All applications will be assessed and scored by a panel of young people so that all successful grants will be decided upon by young people, for the benefit of young people. Applications can be made for a maximum of £500 per group or project. Last year there were over 120 applications and 16 successful bids for the Funding Pot. Last year we funded a variety of applications ranging from new guitars for Barnsley Youth Jazz Association through to new uniforms for young volunteers at Riding for the Disabled.
Director of Business and Customer Services Dave Fullen adds, “We are grateful to all our donators who have made this positive initiative possible. The funding stream will continue to positively effect and encourage the engagement of young people across the borough and improve provision within our communities.”
