Construction Services
Berneslai Homes Construction Services employ over 300 people and have a annual turnover of around £19 million. They provide a comprehensive service for all trades for the repairs and maintenance of two thirds of the Council Housing Stock. The remaining third of the work is carried out by partners Inspace. Both Construction Services and Inspace work closely on sharing best practice and continuing to drive improvements in service delivery.
Construction Services work includes:
- General Repairs
- Planned Maintenance
- Void Work
- Improvements
- Decent Homes Projects
- Equipment and Adaptations.
They also carry out repairs and capital improvements to other customers such as schools and private companies. Berneslai Homes Construction Services covers a variety of trades and their operation division includes:
- Plumbing
- Bricklaying
- Plastering
- Joinery
- Glazing
- Roofing
- Drainage
- Painting and decorating
The Services Division includes: Electricians; Heating Engineers and Gas Engineers. The division are members of the Council for Registered Gas Installers and the National Inspection Council for Electrical Installations.
The Manufacturing Unit includes the manufacture and fixing of UPVC Windows, bespoke joinery and seamless guttering.
Construction Services are the former employees of the Building Works Department of Barnsley MBC who were engaged on Housing Maintenance and who were transferred on 28 March 2005 into Berneslai Homes, and are now an integral part of the Stock Maintenance Team.
