Young Persons Funding Pot

To apply for this year's Young Persons Funding Pot please complete a Young Persons Funding Pot 2010 Application Form.

What is the Young Person’s Funding Pot?

The Young Person’s Funding Pot was established as a pilot scheme in the summer of 2008.  As a result of its great success we have rolled it out again in 2009 and 2010. In 2009 the initiative almost doubled in size due to donations from our business partners and a repeat of the anonymous donations we received in 2008. Bull TCL, Barnsley Federation of Tenants and Residents and D.G. Decorators all generously provided funds, whilst Inspace Partnership matched their donation from last year.

The aim of the Funding Pot scheme is to empower and engage young people involved in youth and community groups across the borough, by helping them to make a difference both now and in the future.  Each group is given an equal opportunity to apply for up to £500 of funding for trips, equipment or activities.  We’re proud to be able to support these young people by helping them to achieve a positive impact on themselves and their communities.

One of Berneslai Homes’ strategic objectives is to deliver sustainable communities which are safe and healthy and provide attractive neighbourhoods that are accessible to all.  The Funding Pot is an excellent way of achieving this.

The Young Persons Funding Pot scheme reached its positive conclusion in August 2009. Upon completion we went out to meet each successful group to give them their cheque along with a contract of agreement.

Berneslai Homes would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that took the time to apply.

How did the groups apply?

This year we publicised the Funding Pot in local press, on the Berneslai Homes website and through leaflets and posters that were distributed across the borough. We sent out 400 application forms to primary and secondary schools, youth clubs, voluntary youth groups and individual young people. We received a great response of 88 applications.

How did we assess the winning bids?

All bids were assessed by a panel of young people from across the borough. The same scoring system was used for each application to help the panel decide those that were successful.

Whose bids were successful?

This year due to the growth of the project 16 bids were successful. Thirteen bids received the full grant of £500, one applicant received £355, another received £200 and a further applicant £145.  Listed below are the details of the successful groups, how they will be spending their grant and how the money will make a positive contribution to their group and community.
