Berneslai Homes are the managing agent for Barnsley MBC providing management, maintenance and regeneration services to 19,500 properties.
We have extensive experience of partnership working to deliver customer focused neighbourhood services and project management of capital programmes including new build. In June 2009 our service was rated 3 star excellent with excellent prospects for improvement by the Audit Commission. Our accreditations include TPAS, IIP, Eco Stars Fleet recognition, Stonewall Diversity champion and achieving standard in the Equality framework for local government. We also manage properties on behalf of private rented landlords and have entered into an agreement to manage new build affordable homes for a RSL.
Services and consultancy we can offer you:
- Full peer review against TSA standards, KLOES (if required) or 3 star benchmarked services.
Cost - £15 to £20k includes desk top analysis of documentation, on site interviews, focus groups, mystery shopping and written reports. Price flexible dependent on brief and duration.
- Short Notice Inspection as above but following the TSA model of SNIs.
Cost - as above.
- Peer review of individual TSA standards.
Cost - dependent on brief.
- Governance – Chair and Chief Executive available to attend and observe Boards and act as critical friend.
Cost - contribution to the Berneslai Homes community fund and expenses.
- Equality and Diversity training tailored to either Boards or staff.
Cost - £500 to £1,000 per one day course plus expenses dependent on level of preparation and development of new material.
- Property Management Service – we offer a Bronze, Silver and Gold level of service to private rented landlords for the letting, managing and maintenance of properties.

Services seeking to develop or interested in consortia approach
- Legal Services framework agreement – in discussions with Efficiency North to procure on behalf of a number of registered providers.
- Potential to offer training on a reciprocal basis across South Yorkshire ALMOs and/or outsourced training provision to single or gateway provider.
- Health and Safety best practice network established across South Yorkshire ALMOs.
- Audit – in principle agreement to collectively procure external audit services post 2013 by South Yorkshire ALMOs.
