Article: Junior Warden scheme with The Robert Ogden school
Dearne Impact Team have recently completed a Junior Warden Scheme with a group of 16 -19 year old pupils from The Robert Ogden School in Thurnscoe. The Robert Ogden School is the largest school in the UK for children and young people with a diagnosis of autism. The school aims to provide a stable, structured and nurturing environment in which children with autism can achieve their full potential.
Berneslai Homes Impact Team Officers and Wardens from the Safer Neighbourhood Team accompanied the pupils on a visit to the Church Street Close sheltered housing scheme where they were able to view the facilities and took part in a quiz. They also carried out an estate inspection in Thurnscoe looking out for litter, graffiti and any other issues in the area.
Phil McNulty from the school said "The pupils at our school very much enjoyed their time working with Berneslai Homes. The pupils particularly enjoyed the visits out to the local properties where they had the opportunity to carry out inspections of the houses and surrounding areas. This project was ideal for our class group as it complemented the work that we were already doing in school about the local environment. All of the pupils involved in the scheme provided positive feedback and we would recommend this project to other schools/groups."
