Celebrating Black History Month

alt=""

October is Black History Month which aims to educate everyone on black history. This year’s theme is ‘Proud to Be‘, which invites people of all ages throughout the UK to share what they are proud to be.

We’re holding an Introduction into the Asylum Journey awareness session on Thursday 21st October from 10.30 until 11.30am. We’d really like you all to join us and celebrate the achievements and contributions of black people around the world.  We’ll explore:

  • Definition of an asylum seeker & refugee
  • Fact & Figures
  • Day in a life of an asylum seeker in the UK / Myth busting
  • Refugee Council – Introduction to the Refugee Council service in Barnsley
  • Q&A

If you’d like to come along then please email: inspire@berneslaihomes.co.uk

If you can’t attend the session then it would be great if you could get involved with Black History month by visiting the Black History Month website, where you can sign up to their mailing list, check their news tab, view their diversity dashboard and more. You can also check the #BlackHistoryMonth hashtag on social media to find out about the events happening this month and how people are celebrating.
