- emergency support
- volunteers to support services that help vulnerable people and may be currently struggling due to staffing due to COVID-19
- if you are a Barnsley resident and want to volunteer your time, no matter how big or small, to make a vital difference during these difficult times
Cllr Jenny Platts, spokesperson for Adults and Communities, said: “It has been amazing to see the community response so far with our residents pulling together in these difficult times. We’ve received over 270 volunteer applications which are a really great result. If you’d like to use your skills to keep our most vulnerable people and families safe, you could help to make a vital difference.”
“I also urge residents who need emergency support to get in touch so that we can get you the right support. This scheme is for emergency support only due to coronavirus disruptions. We ask people to use the contact centre correctly, as time spent answering calls about general enquiries means that we will have fewer resources to help those who desperately need it.”
The contact centre is not for general enquiries, it is to provide emergency help to those who need it. For general information about coronavirus disruption and support, please visit barnsley.gov.uk/coronavirus.
