More electric vehicles to be added to council fleet

Barnsley Council Cabinet members will be asked to approve the replacement of 11 more petrol and diesel vehicles in the council’s fleet with ultra low emission vehicles (ULEVs) as part of Barnsley Council’s work to achieve carbon net-zero.

Ground-breaking Energy Partnership looking to the future

We are pleased to be working in partnership with Age UK Barnsley and Energise Barnsley on a ground breaking project and have been successful in obtaining over £200,000 of funding for a pilot project which will see 75 council properties for older people having batteries installed to complement their existing solar panels.

More than 100 young people at risk of falling into long-term unemployment will be provided with jobs for a full year as part of a £1.2m project to be presented to Barnsley Council’s Cabinet next week.
