Young Carers Support

Are you a Young Carer?

Do you support someone in your home with…..

Cooking? Worry and stress? Cleaning? Taking medicine? Shopping? Making the right choices? Moving about the house or outside? Using the toilet or having a bath/ shower?

We know that it can be hard caring for someone who is poorly or disabled, has an illness you can’t see, has a drug or alcohol related problem.

Do you not:

  • Have time to see your friends?
  • Have time to do your homework?
  • Have time to yourself to do things you enjoy?

Do you:

  • Feel worried, sad or frightened?
  • Feel like nobody understands you?
  • Feel alone or have no one to talk to?

Don’t worry as Barnardo’s can help you….. the Young Carers Service is for young people under the age of 18 who care for a family member.

What if you have a disabled or poorly brother or sister?

Barnardo’s has a Sibling Support group for children aged 8 to 17 that have a brother or sister who is disabled, poorly or has a condition. The group will help you to understand your brother or sister better, learn how to get along together and have some ‘me time’.

If you would like to chat or would like support you can contact Barnardo’s by phoning: 01226 770619 or email: prioryfamilycentre@barnardos.org.uk.  Or visit Barnardo’s website

If you are a young carer or sibling living in a Berneslai Homes property and have a question or need help please contact our Young Carer’s Link Worker by phoning: 01226 772733 or email:      communityengagement@berneslaihomes.co.uk
