As part of our commitment to tackle domestic abuse in Barnsley and to raise awareness, we are pleased to take delivery today of a new vinyl wrapped van.
The van promotes the ‘Make a Stand’ and #SpeakUp campaigns and will be traveling around the borough carrying out repair visits as well as promoting domestic abuse and raising awareness. We will soon be promoting the message on more of our vans to increase awareness and visibility even further and really get the message out there in communities.
We signed up last year to both campaigns: ‘Make a Stand’ is a national campaign which centres around a pledge developed by the Chartered Institute of Housing in partnership with Women’s Aid and the Domestic Abuse Housing Alliance (DAHA); and Speak Up is a joint campaign with IDAS (Independent domestic abuse services) and Barnsley Council, that encourages people to speak about issues in their relationship and domestic abuse.
If you are experiencing domestic abuse or suspect you know someone who might be and need help then please call IDAS on 03000 110 110 or follow this link for further advice.
