Working in partnership with Barnsley Councils Housing Growth Team we have built and acquired over 320 new homes making these available through ‘Homeseeker’ for new tenants. The current new build development pipeline is being delivered by the Housing Growth team and will produce over 60 new homes in the near future. Here’s an overview:
- Baden Street, Worsbrough – 7 x 2 bedroom and 1 x 3 bedroom house. Started on site March 2018, due for completion in Summer 2019.
- Beever Street, Goldthorpe – 7 x 2 bed 3 person bungalows and 1 x 3 bedroom bungalow.. Started on site July 2018 and due for completion Spring 2019.
- Meadstead Drive & Manor Grove, Royston – 14 x 2 and 3 bedroom bungalows. Started on site in September 2018 completion Summer 2019.
- Pontefract Road, Lundwood – 8 x 2 bedroom bungalows. Development of the former Lundwood Hotel site to build 12 bungalows. Start on site in Summer 2018 and due for completion in Spring 2019.
In addition, we have recently purchased 12 properties from the NHS at Keresforth Close, Kingston. Work starts to refurbish them in February 2019, for completion in Summer 2019.
In the last 5 years we have also brought over 200 empty properties back into use. This has been achieved using a “Purchase and Repair” programme purchasing empty properties on the open market bring them up to a lettable standard and offered them to people through ‘Homeseeker’ for new tenant. In total, 50 of these properties had been empty for 6 months or more and attracted grant from “Homes England”. Others were developed converting redundant Shops and Community Buildings.
