Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC)

Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC) was mainly used in the construction of schools, colleges, hospitals and some other buildings from the 1950s to the 1990s. Due to its lightweight nature the panels were mainly used as part of the roof build up but are also found in both external and internal wall construction.

What have Berneslai Homes done?

We have appointed a suitable structural engineering company to undertake both internal intrusive and external visual inspections. The primary aim of the inspections was to verify that no RAAC was present within any of our buildings where it could have been present.

What did you find?

Both intrusive investigations and visual assessments indicate that on inspection no RAAC was present.
