Tenants in Penistone have worked together to transform the communal gardens for everyone to enjoy.

At Pendon House, our independent living scheme in Penistone, tenants have improved the front and back gardens to create a welcoming outdoor space. The scheme offers self-contained flats, alongside shared facilities, such as a communal lounge, kitchen, and a laundry room to help residents stay independent with a bit of support.

Local residents, businesses, and charities have all generously donated flowers and plants for the gardens.

The Royal British Legion donated 500 flowers for the spaces, with SPAR Supermarket providing 50 plants.

The group have also looked at other ways to improve the scheme, such as hosting a tabletop sales event, where tenants can donate any items towards prizes for weekly bingo sessions.

Sean Ellam, Head of Housing Management, said: “It’s been great to hear about the tenants’ wonderful efforts at Pendon House, who have worked tirelessly to maintain and transform the gardens. With some support from local businesses, residents, and charities, welcoming outdoor spaces have been created for everyone to enjoy. We would like to thank everyone who has been involved in making this happen.”
